Cannabis, with care at the center of everything we do.
The founding of KindCare (2009) was driven by the urgent need for safe patient access to medical cannabis, and its convenient location on College Ave in Fort Collins provided an excellent location to serve the community.
A major early milestone for Kindcare was surviving a city-wide vote to close down dispensaries in 2011. Despite enduring two years of uncertainty, we managed to reopen in 2013. In 2016, we received our license to sell cannabis recreationally.
In 2019, we built a brand-new space that now serves as our dispensary. We expanded from a 900-square-foot storefront into a significantly larger building featuring a designated front desk check-in area, six recreational registers, an expanded medical room, and a dedicated online order pickup area. In the summer of 2022, we expanded our cultivation operations by acquiring the former Thermal Concepts location and developing it into a 10,000-square-foot cultivation facility. In 2024, we continued our growth by purchasing Vert’s former cultivation facility, further expanding our cultivation operations and production capacity. In 2025 we rebranded to the branding you see today.
The owner of Kind Care holds a business degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He also has a strong background in financial banking and business. Before opening a dispensary, he served as the business manager for a landscape and maintenance company for a decade. After that, he decided to venture out on his own and open a dispensary with the intention of relocating to Northern Colorado.
Starting the business required immense hard work, dedication, and determination. With only $8,000 in savings, KindCare managed to pay the first and last months’ rent and purchase a pound of marijuana. We managed to open our doors in the third week of October, and make our November rent in the week remaining. Almost 17 years later, we are still thriving. The owner of KindCare attributes much of the success of the business to the dedicated team he has working for him. The team is considered a pioneer in the marijuana business, as no one had any experience in this industry when they opened in 2009. They are all self-taught marijuana business people. KindCare has cultivated a cult following since we opened.
From our early days in Colorado to our growing footprint across multiple communities, we’ve stayed focused on what matters most — creating a place where customers feel welcomed, informed, and taken care of. Our doors are open to medical patients and recreational customers, and we are grateful for the love and support of our dedicated employees and customers.

What is the difference between THC and CBD?
THC and CBD are both compounds found in cannabis, but they have different effects on the body. THC is the main psychoactive component in cannabis, which means that it is responsible for the “high” feeling that people experience when they use cannabis. THC can also have other effects on the body, such as reducing pain and inflammation, stimulating appetite, and inducing relaxation. CBD, on the other hand, does not have psychoactive effects and does not produce a “high”. Instead, CBD has been shown to have potential therapeutic benefits, such as reducing anxiety, inflammation, and seizures. It is important to note that both THC and CBD can have different effects on different people, and the effects may vary depending on the amount and method of consumption.
How does cannabis affect driving?
Cannabis use can impair coordination, reaction time, and judgment, making it dangerous to drive under the influence. It is important to avoid driving after using cannabis and to wait until the effects have worn off.
How long does the high from cannabis last?
The duration of the high from cannabis depends on various factors, such as the method of consumption, the potency of the product, and the individual’s tolerance. Typically, the effects can last anywhere from a few hours to several hours.
How long does cannabis stay in your system?
The amount of time that cannabis stays in your system depends on various factors, such as the frequency and amount of use, the method of consumption, and your metabolism. THC, the main psychoactive component in cannabis, can be detected in urine for up to 30 days in heavy users, while it may only be detectable for a few days in occasional users. Blood and saliva tests may detect THC for a shorter period of time, usually up to a few hours or days. It is important to note that these detection times are approximate and can vary depending on individual factors.
Is cannabis legal?
The legality of cannabis varies depending on where you live. Some countries and states have legalized cannabis for medical or recreational use, while others have strict laws prohibiting its use.
How is cannabis consumed?
Cannabis can be consumed in a variety of ways, including smoking, vaping, edibles, and tinctures. Each method has its own unique effects and duration. It is important to choose a method that works best for you and to start with a low dosage.
What are the potential benefits of using cannabis?
Some people use cannabis to alleviate symptoms of various medical conditions, such as chronic pain, anxiety, and insomnia. Others use it for recreational purposes to relax or have fun.
What are the different types of cannabis?
There are three main types of cannabis: sativa, indica, and hybrid. Sativa strains are typically uplifting and energizing, while indica strains are more relaxing and sedating. Hybrid strains are a combination of the two.
